MASSIV+
A cross-industry partnership driving actionable solutions toward net-zero emissions through resolving the pain-points of GHG emission data reporting. Companies and organisations involved in this initiative includes Microsoft, Alfa Laval, Sandvik, SKF, IKEA, Volvo, SSAB, LKAB and OVAKO.

About MASSIV+
MASSIV+ is a pioneering cross-industry initiative created to tackle one of the biggest challenges in sustainability today: collecting, sharing, and validating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data across complex supply chains. With growing urgency to reach net-zero emissions, MASSIV+ brings together industry leaders to build a standardized, transparent, and scalable approach to climate data — starting with Scope 1 and 2, and ultimately securing Scope 3.
The Challenge
In today’s supply chains, no company operates in isolation. One company’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions often become another’s Scope 3. Yet most organizations rely on generic averages and estimates for their Scope 3 data — undermining accuracy, comparability, and climate action. Key pain points include:
A lack of standardized methods for collecting Scope 1 and 2 data
Difficulty sharing data securely and efficiently between partners
Limited traceability and specificity in emissions reporting at the component level
Fragmentation in how companies interpret and act on sustainability data

The MASSIV+ Solution
MASSIV+ addresses these pain points with a holistic and practical framework that enables:
Supplier-specific climate data at the component level
Standardized reporting of Scope 1 and 2, based on ESRS guidelines
100% climate-neutral energy tracing throughout the supply chain
Automated, secure data sharing across peer-to-peer networks
A Common Composite Data Model (CCDM) that builds on existing standards (e.g., WBCSD, Carbon Call, Asset Administration Shell) and adds MASSIV+ extensions
This approach transforms how data is gathered, validated, and exchanged — making it easier to comply with upcoming regulations and meet sustainability targets with confidence.
What Has Been Done
MASSIV+ is not just a vision — it’s in motion. Since 2023, several proof-of-concept (POC) phases have been carried out:
POC 1 tested peer-to-peer data sharing using real Scope 1 and 2 energy data
POC 2 focused on integration with company databases and demonstrated the value of early standardization
The findings were showcased at major events, including COP28, with continued collaboration and alignment with global sustainability standards.
The Framework
The MASSIV+ Framework is a modular toolkit of documentation, data models, and digital infrastructure designed to make ESG data exchange secure, scalable, and interoperable. It includes:
A Common Composite Data Model (CCDM) to align and structure sustainability data
Data sharing extensions for organizational, asset-level, and product-level emissions
Deployment-ready “beacons” for secure and efficient peer-to-peer data exchange
The Vision Forward
MASSIV+ aims to enable net-zero emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by building a transparent and interoperable data ecosystem for industry. The roadmap includes:
Broadening participation through open-source tools and whitepapers
Aligning with leading initiatives like Catena-X, CBAM, and CDP
Influencing EU regulation toward streamlined and actionable standards
MASSIV+ is proudly backed by leading industrial companies united in their commitment to transparent and actionable climate data. Current participants include:
Volvo Cars
Sandvik
LKAB
OVAKO
Alfa Laval
Microsoft
SKF
IKEA
These companies are not only pioneering best practices within their own organizations — they’re actively shaping the future of data-driven sustainability across industries.
MASSIV+ is a growing movement, and the door is open for more companies to join. If your organization shares the ambition to lead in climate transparency, improve emissions reporting, and help shape tomorrow’s standards — MASSIV+ welcomes your participation.
